I usually hate movies the go straight to DVD and sequels that go to DVD but this movie pulled it of. Never Back Down 2: The Beat Down was actually good to my surprise. Please don't waste your time with this 'film.' You'll thank me. I'm partial to a good action flick, especially when there's nothing else on television, but I would skip this for a documentary to be perfectly honest. You can tell immediately that all of the main characters' backstories were built around an excuse to feature The Beatdown again. And he didn't even bother upping the adult content where it mattered most: the fighting! While the fight scenes were enjoyable (in fact they're this movie's only saving grace), they were at the same level as the ones in the original. I guess Michael Jai White thought he could expand on the first NBD by making this sequel significantly raunchier with saturated profanity, pointless nudity and Skinemax sexual content. It was visual eye candy with its bright picturesque tourist-bait visuals of Florida, beautiful people, and awesome fight scenes. The original was imperfect, predictable, cliched and the acting left room for improvement. I already knew not to get my hopes up when I decided to watch this sequel.
